Hello, Author!
We are excited that you are interested in working with us! As an independent bookstore, we have a vested interest in supporting local authors. This process can be challenging and frustrating for both authors and us at times - for you because you've created something beautiful that you want everyone to see, and for us because we receive an unrealistic number of requests to partner - so we've created guidelines to help us enter into partnerships in a way that serves both of us well.
Our expectations are straightforward: we ask that you don't publish through Amazon (or any of it's affiliates), that you don't use AI in your creation or publication process (including cover art), and that you are a good partner to Pearl Street Books, meaning you self-promote your book and direct people to our store to buy copies instead of directing them to Amazon.
STOCKING YOUR BOOK IN STORE: As a small independent bookstore, we operate on a narrow margin; as such, we are unable to carry every book for which we receive requests. Still, we are happy to evaluate your book for inclusion in our inventory! Click here to learn more about how that process works.
EVENTS: We work hard to provide a variety of events that are responsive to what our local community wants and requests. Because of this, please know we run out of time on the calendar to provide space for all of the events we would love to host! We have found the most selling success using a pop-up selling model; we'll provide you with a table in-store, allowing you to interact with customers (the key to selling!) and keep 100% of your profits.
